Anderson, Sister Anita Higgins & Bro. Tom Dorsey arrived in PAP. Karin, Christy, Melinda, Leanna & Lauren caught up with The Higgins’ & Bro. Dorsey at The Mission House at Fontamara. Mirlene’s (Baby’s) wedding supplies, decorations, flowers and gifts had been brought from the USA by Karin and they were delivered to a very grateful bride-to-be.

The ladies ministered in the area near Hope Orphanage by prayer walking through the village.

Back in Cabaret, two of the men assisted Jason Lovan with a water and gardening project. Dr. Mike organized medicines for the Thursday & Friday clinics. On Wednesday, Karin, Christy, Jason and Cora Lovan went to Archaie market & purchased 20 goats for the Goats for Families partnership that Missions of Love Haiti has with King’s Cross. Each year Missions of Love-Haiti will have access to goats that have been raised by the Lovans. The project supported the Lovans goal to have livestock and our need to have a good stock from which to give free goats to needy families. Dr. Mike, Leanna & Lauren along with Emma Lovan visited Cabaret Baptist Children's Home. The girls played with the children and Dr. Mike helped Pastor David Stone build beds for the orphanage.

The 3 team members from FBC Belle Glade Florida arrived on Monday afternoon and spent the week at Cabaret Baptist Children’s Home in Bercy. Two of the men, Pastor Chuck Mielke and Larry Simmons worked on the mountain of TeNwa digging a latrine & playing with the children.

Some of the team members returned to the Children's home and attended a revival Thursday evening in Bercy. Pastor Chuck Mielke brought the message.

We attended the beautiful wedding of Mirlene & Vilarson Dupuy on Saturday, April 6 at Fontamara. The team from FBC Belle Glade returned on Saturday. The eight Medical Mission team members returned on Sunday. Bro. and Sister Higgins & Bro. Tom stayed for another week of work. While at the Mission House, they visited in several individual Haitian homes. They prayed with many sick friends and family members. They gave candy to the children in the villages. They enjoyed the time spent with the children at Hope Orphanage. They attended and took part in church services at Fontamara Home Church. They met with many people who came to see them at the Mission House. They helped with the needs as much as possible. As for the country, nothing much has changed. The barrels did not arrive while all the teams were in the country. We have received word that the barrels are now at the Mission House. Please pray for Brother Higgins’ safe arrival and return as he plans to distribute the items in Haiti. We want to thank every church, congregation, individual, business and organizations who help and pray for Missions of Love- Haiti Ministries for the work is growing and bringing glory and honor to our Father. We will be setting up appointments soon to share our trip with you and most of all, God’s word and blessings.
May God bless you

The Bus - Postponed

Missions of Love - Haiti

One Sunday morning on our way to church, Michael mentioned that he saw a school bus for sale on the side of the road in LaBelle, FL.  We talked about how neat it would be to have a mobile medical clinic.

Later, I posted on facebook and asked if anyone knew of any school buses that were for sale or if someone had one they would donate to Missions of Love- Haiti...

A friend from college sent me this message about someone he knew who worked for the Bluebird Bus Company.

"Hey, The guy's name is Steve Mann. He is the facilities manager at the church that I worked at in Macon, GA, but I think he was pretty high up at Bluebird at one point. Tell him that you know me and I am sure if he can help you out, he will. He's a great guy."
Scott

I contacted Steve and he put me in touch with Ben Maddox of Peach County Schools.  Their board was selling 6 Bluebird buses.  I contacted him and he told me to write a letter placing a bid on one of the buses.  He said they were all flat-nose Bluebird diesels from the 90s.
I wrote a letter and emailed it to him.  He wrote me back and said the board would make a final decision at the end of the month.

March 4, 2013:
The ad for the buses has been advertised in the paper for two weeks and I can now accept bids. Your $1,300.00 bid has been accepted. Please email me a date and time that your would like to view the buses and pick one out for your relief work in Haiti.

WE HAVE A BUS!!!

As much as I thought it was an awesome idea, I really couldn't believe that we would get the bus.  I had seen on line where buses were $10,000.00.  I left it all up to the Lord to provide.  I am still leaving it up to Him to provide the money and a way to get it to Newberry.

This was my FACEBOOK post in February:
SEND NO MONEY!!! what you arent asking for donations again????
Nope! simply asking you to pound the throne of God...for the provision of a mobile medical clinic for Haiti. We have a great lead on a bus and have placed a bid on it. Word is that it will be about $15,000 - 20,000 to renovate and ship....the lives it will change. PRICELESS!!!!!
Pray with us about this. I will not ask for money for this, i am fully relying on God to bring this to fruition if it is His will.

 March 5, 2012
As soon as I told them, Michael's cousin's husband Aaron offered to drive from their home in Cleveland, TN to Ft. Valley, GA to pick up the bus.  He will then drive it to Newberry.  There are two 90 capacity buses and one is a 1997 model.  We will get temporary insurance on the bus and a 90 day tag.  Soon church members and friends will be taking the bus apart, recycling the metal seats and preparing the floor for the bus to become a mobile medical clinic.

Michael's cousin is a nurse and she and her husband are joining us on our next trip to Haiti.  She sent me a message asking what we were going to do with the bus. When I told her and mentioned the needs of medical office equipment and supplies...she said, "I wrote a grant for a mobile dental bus and the medical office furniture and equipment from my former workplace is in storage.  I will call and ask them if we can have or place a bid on the exam tables, lights cabinets etc..."

Her text came right at a time when I was beginning to believe
that I had bitten off more than I could chew.

Suddenly JOY filled my soul and the possibilities became endless....

June 2013
There were several issues with the bus and the deal fell through.  We need a bus that is not a flatnose.  The bus that will work best in Haiti will need to be higher off of the ground.  In place of a bus, we are now building a school in Les Cayes, hosting a golf tournament to pay for it and also seeing a home for Fedjina's family being built.  They should be living in it by July.

"one day God touch your heart and send you on Fedjina way as a Samaritain to help"

Fedjina Arisma lives in Haiti with her mom and dad and brothers and sisters.  On a warm Sunday in  October 2012, she walked to church.  She did not approach the church, but rather she stayed behind the rock wall.  At times she would smile and climb on the rocks.  The church yard was full of children dressed in pretty dresses and shirts and ties.  She stood out!  She had on an old t-shirt.  The shirt was full of holes.  Her hair caught my attention!  It was a matted mess and it had an orange tinge.  I knew she was hungry.

I noticed her after we had given everything away.  We had passed out new dresses, rice and beans, dolls and carepacks.  I had one carepack left to give so I handed it to her.  She smiled and ran away.  Thankfully I had snapped a few pictures of her before she left.  I had a terrible longing in my heart to know who this child was, where she lived and if she was an orphan.

In Feb.2013, I contacted a member of the church and showed him a picture of this mystery child.  He told me he would find her and tell me her story.  It did not take long for him to find her and her family.  The words that he wrote brought me to tears!

Hello sister Karin I do the job like i promised you, I can tell you sincerely that God send you right towards a lttle girl who is really in need. Here is her name: Fedjina Arisma. She is 5 years old. Her dad does not work, sometimes her mom does laundry to help her and 5 others.
Her foot size is 1 M in USA measurement.
It is difficult to have the size of her clothes because what she has does not have size.
important: She is sick it is the reason why she does not have hair, when she feels the sickness symptom she pulls out her hair from the skin of her head, she vomits and the vomiting even comes out with blood sometimes, she always has fever.
And she never follows any treatment from a physician.

She had never been to a doctor.  I asked Karl Holtzer, a peditrician from SC if he could read her symptoms and tell me how I could help her.  He suggested that she be treated for worms.

We sent money for the worm treatments, food and vitamins for the whole family.

Vilarson wrote a couple of weeks later:
"After church I did not like the way she dressed, and she was uncombed. I asked to her mom to see me to know what happen to her".

Fedjina was sick again.  She needed to see a doctor.

Our friends the Lovans told me that they had an MD coming to Cabaret and he would see Fedjina if they could get her to Cabaret.  She lives in Les Cayes.  That is about a 6 hour drive from PAP and PAP to Cabaret is another 1 1/2 hours.  They made plans to bring Fedjina with them.  On March 4, she saw a doctor.  He said she needed more protein and more worm medicine.  She was given some new clothes.  We spoke with her through Facebook the morning of her appointment.  She said a sweet, quiet  MERCI!

In the meantime, Vilarson took the money that we sent and bought the family a cow and some chickens.  This is the message that I received from him:

Through her all the rest of her family will understand the power of God. Her family is homeless, no food, no way to get money.  They have only life.  Her mom just wash clothes from house to house and what she receive cannot help her with 6 children even Sunday sometimes she is obliged to go to wash to get food for them.

Her mother told me:
"one day God touch your heart and send you on Fedjina way
as a Samaritain to help"

This is the reason after knowing all those things I decided to take Fedjina with us - Baby and I.

More good news: Fedjina starts to change her mom let me know that she does not pull out her hair and she can eat now.  I bought some milk for her for a month to take medicine. I praise God for her. I buy the cow for her family.

Vilarson and Baby will be married on April 6, 2013 in PAP.  They are going to live in Les Cayes and they have been granted permission by her family for them to be her "foster parents". We will continue to help her family, but she needs affection and a better living environment to be able to be free of the worms.

Fedjina will be able to go to school and have a safe loving home in which to live.

His prayer for her is this:
Through her the gospel will continue to preach , pray for her as I am doing at least God will release her as a Haitian missionary too.  This is the plan,
she is a trainer by GOD now one day she will be a sender of GOD.

One life changed - forever.
One family changed - forever.
The Arisma family needs a place to live.  That is our next step.  Her mother has agreed to go to the doctor to talk about birth control.  We are taking clothing and shoes for all of the children and the parents too.
